On a chilly (VERY CHILLY) day in April at Fort George in Niagara-on-the-Lake, a robust group of men gathered to shake-off the off-season cobwebs and re-learned to march, turn, handle their firelocks, and all that good stuff. The officers and NCOs of the 1812 Crown Forces gathered to learn the drill under the newly minted Regimental Sergeant Major, Ewen Wardle (who is taking over for the very worthy Steve Hartwick). Now these gents take their knowledge back to the troops and get the lads (and cross-dressing lassies) into fighting form!

Bradley Spring 2016

In March, a select group of members of Thompson's Company attended our Spring Training session at the historic grounds of our first Adjutant in 1812, Lewis Bradley.  Maple sugar treats were sampled, laughs were had, powder was burned... another amazing day at one of our favourite venues... and the best is yet to come... (Keep October in mind... as we are cooking up something amazing...)  Thanks, as always, to Museums of Mississauga as our kind hosts and friends! Thanks to our Captain, Greg Carraro for getting these images!

In early June, Thompson's Company of the 2nd York attended the Stoney Creek re-enactment and helped the British line fight the wretched Americans! (...unlike last year when we turned coat and helped the Canadian Volunteers who fought for the American forces... but we don't speak of that!)

One of the larger events in the War of 1812 Re-Enactment calendar, we were thrilled to be a part of this year's Siege of Fort Erie offering... and yes, that's us charging down into the earth works towards the fort itself... just before the annual big bang!

Fanshawe 2016

WHO ARE THESE TURNCOATS!?!?! Thompson's Company jumped the line and landed with our good friends, The Canadian Volunteers to fight to bring FREEDOM to the helpless, enslaved people of Upper Canada in the name of President Madison!  Our one rifleman on staff also fought with a small group of Yankee rifles which included a fellow who's a dead ringer for a certain big wig Crown Forces Lieutenant Colonel... hope that fellow is not a spy!

We were privileged to be a small part of the Lorne Scots' Trooping of the Colour ceremonies this year.  A small contingent of The 2nd York attended as the Lorne's had their 1812 battle honours added to their colours.

August 8th - Toronto Harbourfront - ParaPanAm Games Celebration

ParaPan Am Games Celebration

While many of us flung ourselves fruitlessly at the walls of Fort Erie, Barry and Doreen of our company represented Toronto's early history by walking, talking, and taking photos with tourists and other folks who were at Toronto's Harbourfront on Saturday, Aug. 8th... I can't help but notice... they found the beer.

August 7th - 9th - The Siege of Fort Erie

Siege of Fort Erie

The weekend of August 7th through 9th saw Thompson's Company along with some York Volunteers attend and participate in the 30th reenactment of The Siege of Fort Erie.  Once again, they blew up the fort and "we" (crown forces) failed to take the fort. As one friend said, you'd think after thirty times, we might have figured out what's going wrong!

JUNE 6TH - The Battle of Stoney Creek

Stoney Creek

A handful of traitorous and treasonous ne'er do wells joined the ranks of the hated American Volunteers and burned a LOT of powder (and a couple of those ruffians died as well!) at the battle of Stoney Creek this year. The good news is, they did not fire the town on the way out...
